Why I Love Nico

Nico Di Angelo is an extremly well written character who struggles a lot but perseveres, grows, and come out the other side a better person. His character arc is very inspiring and shows how people who struggle like him can grow. I love his sarcastic humor and how unitentionaly funny he is. A lot of the time he says rude things without realizing it and I think it is rly cute. He also gets rly obsessed with things (like mythomagic) which I again think is cute but I also can see myself in. I also love his aesthetic and think his powers are really cool. Although he struggles with isolation and angr, deep down he is very kind. People see him as threatening but he will always reach out to his fellow weirdos who need it (ex: Bob the titan and the trogs). Nico is a character plauged by loss. His mother, his sister, and the first person he ever came out to, Jason. This stays with him and he kind of lets it define who he is, finding comfort in his pain, which is something I can relate to. Even though he went through a bit of a villian arc, at his core he is still a good person who just struggles with holding grudges (agaist other people and himself). He was hurting a lot after he lost his sister and dealing with greif, self hatred, and bad influences. He was able to kind of snap out of it once he was rescued, but his struggles continued. Since he was born in the 1930s, he has internalized homophobia and his crush on Percy causes him a lot of pain. In the end though, he is able to move on and find happiness with someone else. Something that is really inspiring to see. Especially since Nico didn't believed he deserved happiness (also something I can relate to). He was very isolated for a long time, but after a while it was sort of a choice to keep himself isolated. But since Nico is human (well, half human half god) he can't help making connections. Like with Hazel, Rena, Jason, Dionysus, and Will. Once he makes these connections with people who genuinely care about him he starts to accept himself. His problems never jsut disappear, but he grows and learns how to deal with them better. I love how much Nico really values the people in his life who have shown him kindness, even if he isn't the best at showing it (I can relate again). Nico is a beacon of hope for all the queer kids reading pjo and a sign that they can be happy nad deserve to be happy. A lot of his moments in the books where he struggles with his identity have nearly brought me to tears, which really doesn't happen easily. This is why Nico is one of my favorite characters of all time. I have a really strong connection to him and love the message his character sends to the readers. Don't really know if anyone is going to read all o this, but whatever, I LOVE NICO!!
